
How does it work?
There are a few different ways we can work together, which I’ve detailed below.
If you’re not sure what type of help you need, don’t worry. The first step is the same anyway: just message me. Tell me about your manuscript. Tell me what you hope to achieve with it, what you’re unsure about, what you’re afraid of. We’ll go from there.
I’ll typically do a sample edit of around 500 words. Once we’ve gotten a feel for each other’s work, I’ll be able to give you a quote for the full manuscript. Then, if you’re happy to move forward with me, we’ll go ahead and schedule your edit!

Copy edit
You want a second pair of eyes and a light touch to make sure everything is polished and professional.
This edit is mostly mechanical. I won’t mess with your prose, but I will correct your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I will check for accuracy and consistency.

Line edit
You have a great story. You want to make sure your prose is working for it.
This edit is about voice, wording, rhythm. It’s about finding the most efficient ways to convey meaning and emotion. I’ll be looking at your sentence structures and your use of language.

Developmental edit
You have a full draft, but the book is not quite itself yet.
This edit focuses on sharpening purpose and assembling the building blocks of your story. My comments will discuss plot, setting, themes, character arcs, point of view, and pacing.
